Before I began, I just want to thank all of you who have supported me by liking, sharing, giving your patronage, and the encouragements. It has been great to create and manufacture a small batch for a craft sale.
I didn’t think it was going to be received so well. Though the small audience who saw them took them in with open arms.
The reason why I tried to make coasters first as a small production run was because I wanted something functional. It allows the user to interact with the piece of art. It became a design, rather than just art.
These coasters were a start of a direction I wanted to go with my work. I wanted to make some art that was functional decor. Then it allowed me to translate my culture into a different material other than cloth. This became my way of making a contemporary design with the essence of traditional patterns.
I will be continuing this series because I believe there is so much more that can be done.
